By the time I was thirty-two, I had lost everything through my addictions. I was at the lowest point of my life. I reached out to my old drama teacher, and said I wanted to be an actor, as it was the only subject I received any recognition from. The very same day, Ms Jo Stone, my head of year took me under her wing. She was directing Twelfth night, and cast me as The Fool. Feste. I then got the acting bug and went on to perform in thirty something productions, however my Alcoholism was gradually getting worse, and I lost the big break I was hungry for.

At thirty-five I was in a night club when I met someone doing palmistry, and she told me I had writing talent, but I scoffed and said I could barely write my name, Then I met an astrologer, who did a natal birth chart and she said the same thing, however she elaborated, and told me in no uncertain words I have a flare for creative writing. Again, I scoffed. I just wasn’t ready, and honestly thought I was incapable of writing anything. Then I started a duet with a saxophonist, and we performed many gigs as Charlie Brown and Johnny Kane, A swing duet. At every gig there was more and more booze.

I was finally brought to my knees, in my early forties. Soon after getting sober, I was asked to help put a band together, for a support gig with Eric Clapton, at a New Year’s Eve AA gig.
The next seven years I was front man for the Phoenix Brothers Band. This is where the writing started, when I began to pen songs, quite easily.
I then with the help of a screenwriter put together a film script called on the tiles, a comedy about the lives of some Kentish roofing contractors. The script was optioned, however didn’t get made
Many people have said to me about writing a book. Two years ago, I started to write, I was told I am going on a mystery tour, when writing my first novel. Sometimes I found it difficult and sometimes my writing flowed.
Kalooki, is the Title of my First book, A semi biographical, fiction story, where I have drawn on many aspects of my life, to bring this work to life.
